Five freight companies were acquired in three years, and AIT, a third-party logistics company, won another customs broker
AIT worldwide logistics, a global logistics company, said on Thursday that it had acquired multimodal international, Ltd., a licensed United States customs broker based in Elk Grove Village, ill., that focuses on the automotive, machine tool, metals, electronics and chemical industries. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
AIT said the latest acquisition not only increased its freight forwarders' annual customs clearance entries by more than 10% to nearly 50000 a year, but also injected more than 40 years of intellectual capital into the company's internal customs clearance team, increasing the number of organizations by 14 Licensed customs broker.
"Multimodal has been providing customs clearance support to customers around the world since 1982, and they have earned a long-term reputation for providing quality customer service," said Emily Faulkner, director of import operations and customs brokerage at Ait.
"We look forward to leveraging the expertise they build, which is fully in line with AIT's mission to win the trust of our customers by providing superior global logistics solutions."
Faulkner added that AIT's internal licensing broker team is committed to reducing customer risk by working with customs agents and partners to reduce customs clearance delays, understand trade standards and regulations, and even submit documents on behalf of customers. Take the company's "wheels up" customs clearance program, which allows U.S. Customs to clear goods en route by air, reducing transit time by up to 24 hours.
In the past three years, AIT worldwide has acquired five companies. The acquisition follows AIT's acquisition of panther logistics and field forwarding, a European company, in 2020, Unitrans International Corp., based in Los Angeles, in 2019, and worldfresh express and connexion world cargo in the UK in 2018.
